"The experience was greatly appreciated and much needed. Lorna always made a point to call me directly just to check in. That’s extremely refreshing when you feel like no one cares about you or what you may be going through. I’d sit on the phone with her (at work) for over an hour, but after every conversation I felt a sense of purpose and direction; especially about dealing with these snot-nosed boys. Sometimes, I’d get off of the phone and cry. Not because I was sad or anything, but because I knew that someone else had been through this same point that I’m at, overcame it, and care enough to help me conquer it as well."
" I really liked that the program was the diversity of the overall curriculum. The topics that were discussed were so diverse. I really liked how I was able to learn about my overall physical health, spiritual health, marriage/singleness, finances, and beauty tips all in the same program. That was something that I really appreciated because it showed how my life has so many different components. Even though there are so many different components in my life, there should always be a balance with all of it. "
" Towards the end of Redefined, I had time to think over the weeks prior and how things had been going and realized something major: I had support! I had a network of others that were going through the same things that I was going through, that would understand and provide support. Being able to have people to turn to and ask for guidance when needed was a major key. Participating in Redefined has been responsible for a lot of the joy that I experienced over the summer in the midst of a lot of chaos. I can truly say that I felt redefined as a person, and am very appreciative of the program for making that possible."
"Project redefined has change my perspective, which is big because as my perspective changes it seemed like my life changed. For so long I felt stuck, I was my own giant. I prayed for help, and I got it through this program! I appreciate God for allowing me this opportunity, and I thank Lorna and the life coaches for being obedient. A large part of being successful is being excited, while looking forward and working towards “Something”. So whatever that “something” is get excited and stay lit because your dreams are worth it! I believe that project redefined has given me a lot to be excited about, as I stated in my refection paper my redefining process has not ended it just begun!"
"One highlight of this program that was so much fun was the thrift store challenge. Doing that challenge has taught me two things. First is you don't have to spend a lot of money to be cute. The second thing was it's not about what you wear but it's about the how you wear it or the confidence behind it. After completing this class I feel as if I obtained what I needed to be who I was called to be. I can do whatever I set my mind to do and be all that I aspire to be. I've gain more confidence about myself and my abilities. I feel like I've grown because starting out I didn't always want to participate, tell my problems or struggles. I was so ashamed and almost afraid to talk. Now I feel as though I have overcame the fears shame and doubts."
